A Situation Briefing teleconference on recent developments in the Middle East, including President Trump's visit to the region, Qatar's ongoing dilemma with an array of Arab states, and the terrorist attack in Iran.

President Trump recently returned from his first trip to the Middle East region as Commander-in-Chief. In Riyadh, President Trump met with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Several of these countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt have since severed diplomatic ties with Qatar, home of the largest U.S. airbase in the region, in an unfolding diplomatic crisis. Meanwhile, ISIL conducted its first terror attack in Iran this week, killing 12 people.

How can the diplomatic crisis regarding Qatar be resolved? Does the attack in Iran signal a new phase in the fight against ISIL? What did we learn from President Trump's visit to the Middle East?
