U.S. Peace Corps: Meeting the Challenges of the 21st Century

A special dinner event with Ms. Carrie Hessler-Radelet, 19th Director of the U.S. Peace Corps. 

Carrie Hessler-Radelet became the 19th Director of the Peace Corps in June 2014. In the years prior, she served as the acting director of the Peace Corps and deputy director. She began her career in international development as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Western Samoa, teaching secondary school English. From there, she went on to spend over two decades working in public health, focusing on HIV/AIDS and maternal and child health, before returning to the Peace Corps. 

Peace Corps sends Americans abroad to tackle the most pressing needs of people around the world. Volunteers work at the grassroots level toward sustainable change that lives on long after their service. As head of the Peace Corps, Hessler-Radelet has led historic reforms to modernize and strengthen the Peace Corps to meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

Ms. Carrie Hessler-Radelet was sworn into office as the 19th Director of the Peace Corps in June 2014. In the years prior, she served as Peace Corps acting Director and deputy director. Previously, she served as vice president and director of the Washington, D.C., office of John Snow Inc., a global public-health organization, where she oversaw the management of health programs in more than 85 countries. Read more.

Ms. Jennifer A. Faust is currently the Executive Vice President of the Pacific Council, having joined the staff in 2002. She has been deployed on international missions with the U.S. Peace Corps/Haiti, the United Nations Mission/Kosovo, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and the Organization for American States (OAS).
