Military Site Visit: CENTCOM and SOCOM

A small group of Pacific Council affiliate members will be hosted for a two day visit to the bases of U.S. Central and Special Operation Commands (CENTCOM and SOCOM) for meetings with CENTCOM Commander General James N. Mattis, CENTCOM Deputy Commander Vice Admiral Robert S. Harward, Jr., SOCOM Commander Admiral William H. McRaven, and for discussions with personnel and leaders on current operations and initiatives.

Mr. James N. Mattis, CENTCOM Commander General

Mr. Mattis serves concurrently as the Commander of U.S. Joint Forces Command and as NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander for Transformation. As Commander of U.S. Central Command, he has directed military operations of over 200,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen, Coast Guardsmen, Marines, and allied forces across the Middle East. Read more.

Mr. Robert S. Harward, Jr., CENTCOM Deputy Commander Vice Admiral

Mr. Harward previously served on the National Security Council as the director of Strategy and Policy for the office of Combating Terrorism. He also served as deputy commander, U.S. Joint Forces Command and most recently he served as commander of Combined Joint Interagency Task Force (CJIATF) 435 from 2009 to 2011 in Afghanistan. Mr. William H. McRaven, SOCOM Commander Admiral

Mr. McRaven is a recognized national authority on U.S. foreign policy and has advised presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama and other U.S. leaders on defense issues. He also helped spearhead the creation of the Preservation of the Force & Family initiative to ensure the mental, spiritual, and physical well-being of those who serve, as well as their families.
