RAPID RESPONSE: AFGHANISTAN

Support the "Evacuate Our Allies" Operations Center

The situation in Afghanistan is dire as American troops pull out and the Taliban reclaim control of the country. Afghans who helped the U.S. throughout the past 20 years are now trying to leave the country. While the Taliban has given an August 31st deadline for evacuation, those on the ground face grave danger leaving the country and uncertainty at every step of the relocation process.

The Pacific Council has partnered with respected members including Steve Miska, executive director of First Amendment Voice, and Nell Cady-Kruse, risk consultant, to create the "Evacuate Our Allies" Operations Center to help evacuate U.S. allies in Afghanistan.

Due to the nature of this emergency response, consistent and constant coverage of phones and email is essential; therefore, our volunteers are committing their full-time support (8 to 12 hours per day) on-site in our offices in Downtown Los Angeles. The team is taking phone calls and fielding emails from a consortium of nonprofit partners engaged in helping to evacuate our allies - from the Kabul Airport to third party countries, U.S. receiving sites, and local resettlement agencies - sharing information among a coalition of networks dedicated to this rapid response.

There is not a minute to waste to get our Afghan allies out of Afghanistan and to a place of safety, temporary or not. Please consider making a one-time gift that will allow us to extend this project amid the continuously developing situation.

Your gift will help ensure that the Council continues to promote global engagement and aid in the safe withdrawal of our allies in Afghanistan.
