The emergence of a global pandemic has shaken the 2020 election in countless ways and campaigns are entering entirely uncharted territory. How will campaigns respond to a reality in which rallies and volunteers knocking doors in swing states are off the table and how do we protect democracy when the act of voting in person might present a health risk?

Thomas Zimmerman, Director of Programs, Pacific Council on International Policy

Thomas is the Director of Programs at the Pacific Council. Previously, he worked on Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign and oversaw foreign policy research for the 2012 reelection campaign. He worked served as Special Assistant to the National Security Advisor at the White House and recently coordinated foreign policy research for Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign. Read more.
