On Thursday, August 27, at 3 pm PT, the Pacific Council is hosting a conversation to mark the one-year anniversary of the closure of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and examine the uncertain future of American humanitarian assistance abroad. Participants will hear from Tyler Beckelman, Nonresident Scholar with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace's Africa Program; Dr. Ebenezer Obadare, Douglas Dillon Senior Fellow for Africa Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations; Michael Schiffer, Associate Fellow, Technology, Trade and Geopolitics Program at the International Institute for Strategic Studies; and Sam Vigersky, International Affairs Fellow, Council on Foreign Relations.

On Monday, August 10, at 11 am PT, the Pacific Council will host a webinar examining the evolving conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States, and its latest developments in negotiating an end to the war. Professor Sahar Razavi, Associate Professor of Political Science at California State University, Sacramento, in conversation with Dr. Jerrold D. Green, Senior Fellow for Middle East and South Asia, will discuss the political calculations shaping negotiations, the role of regional actors, and what the current moment may reveal about the future of the Middle East. 

On Wednesday, July 22, at 10 am PT, the Pacific Council will host a webinar to take stock of the complex and often contradictory effects of the critical minerals industry on Africa. Attendees will hear from Kidan Araya, Founder and Director of the Africa Climate x Nature Salon; Kristi M. Rogers, Co-Founder & President, PRISM; Dr. Vera Songwe, Chair of the Board of the Liquidity and Sustainability Facility; and British A. Robinson, Chair and Managing Director, Africa, Milken Institute, and Africa Senior Fellow at the Pacific Council.
