Secretary Bryson was nominated by President Obama in May 2011 and served as U.S. Secretary of Commerce to June 2012. Bryson is now leading an initiative on Global Climate Change focused on India, China, and the U.S. Mr. Bryson is a Trustee of Caltech, a member of the Deutsche Bank Americas Advisory Board and the Board of Directors of W.M. Keck Foundation. He was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2011. Prior to his government service, Bryson served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Edison International, the parent company of Southern California Edison. For many years he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Boeing Company, the Walt Disney Company, the Board of Trustees of Stanford University, and a Senior Advisor to Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Company (KKR). He served as a member of the U.N. Secretary-General’s Advisory Group on Energy and Climate Change. Earlier, Bryson was President of the California Public Utilities Commission, and Chairman of the California State Water Resources Board. He was a co-founder of the Natural Resources Defense Council. Mr. Bryson attended Stanford University and Yale Law School.
