Ani Ucar is a producer with VICE News Tonight - the Emmy award-winning nightly newscast from VICE Media and HBO. Prior to VICE, Ani worked for National Geographic's documentary Science Fair, a Netflix investigative documentary series called The Naked Truth, and the LA Weekly, where she was the first reporter to gain access inside the gay wing of Los Angeles' Men's Central Jail. In 2017 Ani worked abroad, covering Armenia's parliamentary elections and Turkey's constitutional referendum. 

Ani's work has taken her to China where she covered the country's underground movement for LGBTQ rights, to Florida for both the Pulse Nightclub and the Parkland shootings, to Mexico for immigration coverage, to D.C. for the Kavanaugh hearings, and most recently to New Zealand to cover the aftermath of the Christchurch massacre.

Ani completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis with a double major in psychology and communication and a minor in writing. She then went on to earn her master's in journalism from the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism where she was awarded the Order of Areté upon graduation.
