Mr. Cappello has led several public and private companies for over 40 years, including Cappello Group, Inc. a global merchant bank, whose principals have conducted over $155 billion in transactions in over 50 countries. Mr. Cappello is a Director of The Cheesecake Factory, Inc. (NASDAQ), California Ethanol & Power and Caldera Medical; and formerly he was a Founder & Director of California Republic Bank, Chairman of Intelligent Energy, PLC (London), a global technology leader in hydrogen fuel cells, Inter-Tel (NASDAQ), Geothermal Resources Intl. (AMEX), as well as a Director of Cytrx (NASDAQ), Genius Products (NASDAQ) and Koo Koo Roo, Inc (NASDAQ). He is a Director of the RAND Corporation's Center for Middle East Public Policy (CMEPP), the RAND Center for Global Risk and Security (CGRS) and the RAND Russia Forum. Mr. Cappello is actively involved with the City of Hope as a Trustee and as Chairman of their investment committee. He is also on the board of trustees of the Jordan River Foundation (Amman, Jordan; Washington D.C.), and on the boards for the Biller Family Foundation, Friends of Florence (Florence, Italy) and the ALS Therapy Development Foundation. He holds or has held the following roles at USC: Board of Trustees – Trustee; Alumni Association Board of Governors – President; Alumni Presidents Council - Chairman; Marshall School Board of Leaders - Board Member; Loker Hydrocarbon Research Institute - Board Member. Mr. Cappello also served as Chairman of the International Board of the Young Presidents Organization and they created the Alexander L. Cappello Annual Award at its Global Leadership Conference in his honor. He is Chairman Emeritus of Catholic Big Brothers of Los Angeles. Mr. Cappello has been a guest lecturer at the USC, UCLA and Harvard Business Schools. Mr. Cappello received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Marshall School of Business at USC in 1977 with honors, including recognition as an "Order of the Palm" scholar.
