
Philip W. Yun has four decades of experience in foreign affairs, diplomacy, law, business, and philanthropy. He is currently Co-President and Co-CEO of Commonwealth Club World Affairs (CCWA), a leading nonpartisan public forum. Previously, he served as President and CEO of World Affairs and as Executive Director and COO of Ploughshares Fund, where he focused on international security and nuclear policy.
From 1994 to 2001, Yun was a senior advisor at the U.S. Department of State, shaping East Asia and North Korea policy. He worked closely with Secretaries of Defense and State, participated in negotiations with North Korea, and was part of the U.S. delegation that visited Pyongyang with Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Earlier in his career, he practiced law and worked in private equity.
Yun’s commentary and analysis have appeared in CNN, The Hill, The National Interest, U.S. News & World Report, and The Los Angeles Times, among others. He is the co-editor of North Korea and Beyond (2006). A Fulbright Scholar, he holds degrees from Brown University and Columbia Law School and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
