Matt Rosenbaum is an international trade and white collar defense partner at Holland & Knight, where he is a member of the firm’s National Security & Defense Industry Group.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Matt served at the U.S. Department of Commerce as senior counsel for the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). In that role, Matt directed civil export controls enforcement across BIS’s western regional offices, covering all companies based in Silicon Valley and Southern California. He has also served as a federal prosecutor in the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California (Los Angeles); as senior deputy associate counsel at the White House; and as special advisor to the Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.

Earlier in his career, Matt worked in the litigation department at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Thomas P. Griesa of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He received a JD from Columbia Law School and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
