Sophie Salmore is a human rights and policy advocate committed to advancing gender justice, refugee rights, and equitable public policy. With a career rooted at the intersection of grassroots activism and global diplomacy, she has led initiatives that center dignity, safety, and justice for marginalized communities.
Sophie currently works at the forefront of international gender equity, most recently serving as a Gender Policy Consultant at Global Citizen, where she drove global campaigns on gender justice and reproductive rights. Her work mobilized millions and shaped intersectional policy outcomes across diverse regions.
Previously, she helped launch and manage one of the nation’s largest Afghan legal response programs at Human Rights First, overseeing a coalition of 1,100 pro bono attorneys and 500 interpreters to deliver trauma-informed legal aid to displaced Afghans. Her leadership there bridged legal systems, humanitarian response, and community care to support vulnerable populations during crisis.
Sophie’s policy and advocacy experience spans institutions such as the U.S. Department of State, USAID, MSNBC, and the Center for American Progress, equipping her with a comprehensive understanding of both high-level governance and grassroots mobilization.
She holds a Master’s in Global Governance and Diplomacy from the University of Oxford and a BA from Wesleyan University, where she focused on political science and international affairs. A proud Angeleno, Sophie is deeply committed to building inclusive systems that elevate human dignity and promote lasting justice—locally and globally.
