Join the Pacific Council for a timely webinar: Navigating the Atlantic: Europe-U.S. Relations in Trump’s First 100 Days. The global order is rapidly shifting. As the second Trump Administration redefines U.S. foreign policy, European leaders are reassessing long-standing alliances and navigating an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape.
Learn about these developments and more from our featured speakers, Jason C. Moyer, Independent Foreign Policy Professional, and Lena Schorlemer, Director, Agora Strategy. This conversation will be moderated by Dr. David Andrews. Dr. Andrews is the Pacific Council’s Europe Senior Fellow and a Professor of International Relations at Scripps College.
Why it's important:
- President Trump's return to office has renewed conversations and concerns around NATO funding commitments, with pressure on European allies to meet the 2% GDP defense spending target, potentially reshaping the alliance's priorities and operations.
- Geopolitical shifts driven by the Trump Administration may push EU members to strengthen intra-European cooperation on defense, foreign aid to Ukraine, energy security, and technology.
- The evolving transatlantic relationships highlight questions about shared democratic values and governance, prompting a deeper examination of how long-time democratic allies can cooperate despite differing approaches to global engagement.
