Tatiana Basáñez is a social psychologist working in academia and as a business consultant specializing in health and education.

Her research focuses on culture, media, and intergroup relations. She has authored two measurement scales —including a Perceived Attentiveness scale that assess patients’ perceived quality of care based on interactions with their physicians. Tatiana’s published work in the American Journal of Public Health contributed to changes in legislation by showing evidence of the need to regulate the advertising of nicotine products.

While working in business, Tatiana founded the art film review supplement of national newspaper Reforma in Mexico and in Los Angeles, created a film subtitling department that became Technicolor. She supervised the RAND Corporation’s Survey Research Group, was Professional Expert at the Los Angeles Unified School District, and taught consumer psychology at the University of Southern California’s (USC) Masters in Applied Psychology Program.

Tatiana is a native Spanish speaker from Mexico City and now teaches at the Psychology Department of California State Polytechnic University Pomona.

In the fall of 2022 she was also Visiting Professor of Cognitive Science at Occidental College.
