Mark Cappellano is a longtime conservationist and Vice President of the Skyscrape Foundation – a Family Foundation funding environmental, fine art and humanitarian projects. He is a managing partner of Marquad LLC, a diverse real estate and securities investment group and Be Love Apparel, a yoga inspired clothing company.  Mark is a Director Emeritus of Earthwatch Institute and a Founding Board member of 5gyres and CARN (Conservation Action Research Network):  all of which address the global complexity of ecosystem services and climate change in an increasingly populated world.  This year CARN’s work has focused on local research Grants across the entire Congo Basin.  Mark also serves as Trustee to Mongabay.org,  the “Go-To” environmental reporting and education platform focused solely on the tropics with a strong presence in Indonesia of late.  Formerly a vintner in the Napa Valley, he co-launched Versant Vineyards, running all aspects of the premium wine and olive oil business. The vineyard was sold successfully to the Mondavi family in 2010. During that time, he served on the Natural Resources committee for Napa Country Farm Bureau. Mark also works closely with CARE International on initiatives regarding the education of women and children, visiting field sites at every opportunity. He is currently a Patron member of The Pacific Council on International Policy. He has a Bachelor of English Literature and lives in Los Angeles, California with his wife and two young daughters.
