As Senior Vice President for Advancement, Arthur J. Ochoa leads Cedars-Sinai’s external relations, including communications, community engagement, development and marketing.
Cedars-Sinai has raised more than $1 billion in philanthropic support since Art’s appointment as Chief Development Officer and Senior Vice President in 2004. He joined Cedars-Sinai in 2001 as Director of Planned Giving. Prior to that, Art practiced transactional and tax law for individual, corporate and not-for-profit clients at O’Melveny & Myers LLP and Irell & Manella LLP.
In his time between college and law school, Art began his career in Washington, DC as an advocate and policy analyst at Youth Service America.
Art’s civic leadership includes serving as board chair of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, vice-chair of the board of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science and vice chair of the Women’s Heart Alliance. He is also a board member of the Pacific Council on International Policy, a member of the Yale Law School Association’s Executive Board and an honorary trustee of the Mexican American Bar Foundation. Art is vice president of the board of Marlborough School and a past president of the Board for the Center for Early Education. He is also a past chairman of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Tax Exempt Organization Committee.
He lectures frequently on fundraising, governance, legal and management matters. Previously, Art has served as an adjunct faculty member of American Jewish University.
Art earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Southern California (cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa) and a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School.
