As Senior Vice President for Community Relations & Development, Arthur J. Ochoa leads Cedars-Sinai’s external relations, including fundraising, community health programs, volunteer services, communications, marketing and digital strategy. The academic health system has raised more than $1 billion in philanthropic support since Art’s appointment as Chief Development Officer and Senior Vice President in 2004. He joined Cedars-Sinai in 2001 as Director of Planned Giving.
Prior to that, Art practiced corporate and tax law for individual, corporate and not-for-profit clients at O’Melveny & Myers LLP and Irell & Manella LLP in their Los Angeles offices. He is a past chairman of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Tax Exempt Organization Committee. In his time between college and law school, Art began his career in Washington, DC as an advocate and policy analyst at Youth Service America.
Art’s civic and professional leadership includes serving as board chair of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, vice-chair of the board of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science and vice chair of the Women’s Heart Alliance, based in Washington, DC. He is also a board member of the Pacific Council on International Policy, an honorary trustee of the Mexican American Bar Foundation and a member of the Yale Law School Association’s Executive Board. Art is a trustee of Marlborough School and immediate past president of the Board of Trustees for the Center for Early Education in West Hollywood.
He lectures frequently on legal, fundraising, management and governance matters. Art has previously served as an adjunct faculty member of American Jewish University. Art earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Southern California (cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa) and a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School.
