
Amanda McCaffrey is a Krantz Fellow at the law firm DLA Piper in San Francisco. During her fellowship year, she will work exclusively on pro bono matters, including international projects to promote the rule of law and women's advancement abroad, as well as domestic matters serving indigent clients seeking relief within the criminal legal and immigration systems. She graduated from Stanford Law School in 2020, where she focused her academic study and practical training on human rights advocacy, international rule of law, international conflict resolution, and transitional justice. She has worked with legal teams advising governments on issues of international environmental law, including ascension to and implementation of multilateral treaties. As a research assistant and intern, she has supported litigators arguing before the International Court of Justice and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon in the Hague. Amanda has also worked with U.S. government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and UN entities on research and advocacy projects. She has published articles and blog posts on various issues in international law, including several pieces on the human rights obligations of multinational corporations. Amanda received her bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley. She also holds a master’s degree in creative writing from New York University, and has volunteered for several years as a creative writing instructor at two Bay Area jails.
