On Tuesday, June 16, the Pacific Council invites our members to join an intimate gathering with Minky Worden, Director of Global Initiatives at Human Rights Watch, and Maryam Shojaei, Iranian-Canadian activist and author of Azadi Means Freedom: Fighting for Gender Equity Through the World's Most Popular Game. The conversation will examine the intersection of sport, human rights, and gender equity as the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches, drawing on Shojaei's firsthand experience challenging Iran's decades-long stadium ban on women.

On Tuesday, July 7, at 10 am PT, the Pacific Council, in partnership with the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), will host a webinar presenting the findings of the 2026 Global Peace Index (GPI) and examining MENA's peace trajectory alongside broader global trends. Attendees will hear from Michael Collins, Executive Director, Americas, of the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP).

On Tuesday, July 14, at 9 am PT, the Pacific Council will host a webinar on the security crisis reshaping U.S.-Mexico relations. The event will feature Lila Abed, Director of the Mexico Program at the Inter-American Dialogue; Dr. Cecilia Farfán-Méndez, Head of the North American Observatory at the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime; Dr. Vanda Felbab-Brown, Senior Fellow in Foreign Policy, Director of the Initiative on Nonstate Armed Actors, and Co-Director of the Africa Security Initiative at the Brookings Institution; and Clare Ribando Seelke, Specialist in Latin American Affairs at the Congressional Research Service.
