Telles, Former Ambassador to Costa Rica and Pacific Council Board Director, on Wednesday, October 7 at 6 pm PT. As California's senior senator and one of the most consequential voices in the U.S. Senate, Senator Padilla brings a distinctive perspective to some of the most significant policy debates of our time.

The Pacific Council invites you to join us on Wednesday, October 14, at 10 am PT, to discuss President Xi Jinping's September 23–25 state visit to Washington, D.C., his first trip to the U.S. capital in a decade. It follows the Pacific Council's May discussion, "What's Next for U.S.–China Relations?", which looked at President Trump's trip to Beijing. Attendees will hear from Dr. Jeff Wasserstrom, Chancellor's Professor of History, University of California, Irvine, and Anka Lee, Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for East Asia and Pacific Council Member.

John Kamm has spent more than five decades engaging with China, first through business and trade, and later through a distinctive form of human rights diplomacy. On Thursday, October 15, at 9:00 am PT, the Pacific Council on International Policy will host a webinar, “From Businessman to Human Rights Advocate: A Conversation with John Kamm on China’s Political Prisoners.”
