Currently a Senior Advisor to Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton and its Entertainment and Advertising group, Dick was a co-founder and managing partner of Hill Wynne Troop & Meisinger, a Southern California firm which grew from four lawyers in 1975 to over 175 lawyers in 2001, the year it was acquired by Akin Gump.
Prior to graduating from law school Dick was an electrical engineer, first involved in the design of elements of the navigation system for the SR-71 Blackbird – the first military use of integrated circuits, and later recruited in the mid-60’s to join an advanced research team at Hughes Aircraft focused on projecting the state of digital technology 20 years out, and designing novel computer architectures which might efficiently utilize that technology. As an active private investor, Dick has served as advisor and board member of several public and private companies, and devotes a significant portion of his time to the management of his investments.
He is a Life Trustee of the Los Angeles Opera. Dick and his wife Cindy travel the world, trekking, hiking, skiing and diving. They are both engaged in organizations focused on the preservation of oceans, reefs and endangered marine life.
