Derek is Senior Vice President, Global Government Solutions for Logistics Plus, a global transportation, supply chain, and business intelligence company, where he leads international public sector projects. Previously he was Managing Partner of August Advisors, a cross-border advisory firm.

Before launching August Advisors, Derek was Vice President of International Government Relations for JPMorgan Chase & Co. From 2013-2015 he was located in Hong Kong where he established and led the firm's government relations efforts for the Asia Pacific region. He had previously been located at the firm’s global headquarters in New York since 2007, with a global portfolio on the firm’s International Government Relations team.

Before joining J.P.Morgan, Berlin was Assistant to the President at the Council on Foreign Relations. He also served twice in the U.S. government, at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York and with the Department of Defense in Iraq.  

Until departing Hong Kong he was the Chairman of the Financial Services Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and served in the leadership of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce’s Young Executives Committee.

Berlin has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, as Chairman of the Carnegie Council’s New Leaders Program, and as a member of the Young Leaders Advisory Council of Global Kids. He is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

During his career he has lived and worked in the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East and has travelled extensively throughout Africa and Latin America.

He holds a B.A. from Columbia University School of General Studies and lives with his wife and two sons in Los Angeles.
