Energy, Environment & Security Committee
The Energy, Environment, and Security (EES) Member Committee is committed to exploring and engaging global issues surrounding energy use and environmental concerns. As global energy consumption continues to increase exponentially and climate change and other environmental hazards become more imposing threats, the resulting consequences and challenges require proactive engagement and unique solutions. The EES Committee aims to initiate dialogue on the range of crucial energy and environmental issues and begin investigating solutions to the most pressing concerns in each area.
The activities of the EES committee provide opportunities for members to engage and work with common purpose with other members with shared passions. The output of our member committee has served well to complement other programming and initiatives by the Council. Recently, the EES Committee has focused its efforts on topics such as renewable technologies, modern grids and smart grids, alternative energy, energy consumption and geopolitics, and climate change. As the gamut of issues continues to expand, the EES committee’s goal is to meet the challenge through substantive programming, events, and initiatives addressing current, new, and emerging issues.
The Committee is chaired by Pacific Council Chair John Bryson, former Chairman and CEO of Edison International, as the Southern California area chair; Bruce Comer, Managing Director of Ocean Park Advisers, as the Northern California area chair; and Chris Ajemian, a foreign policy analyst and lawyer based out of Seattle, as the Washington State chair.
